Atlanta Braves met three home purchases to support a solid pitching effort from Grant Holmes and earn a 6-2 victory over the visiting Minnesota twins on Sunday to sweep a three-game series.
Matt Olson, Drake Baldwin and Marcell Ozuna all went deep to help Braves expand their total winning line against Minnesota to 11 matches.
Holmes (2-1) struck 5 2/3 rounds and allowed a run on four hits, four walks and one season-high seven strikes. The right hand escaped base -loaded jams in the fourth and fifth round to allow only one run at a wild pitch. It was his first career victory against the twins.
Enyel de Los Santos got the final in the sixth round and beat the seventh, which allowed a run. Pierce Johnson finished with two strikes over two speechless innings.
The twins Joe Ryan (1-2) went five rounds, which enabled six runs on eight hits and a walk with five strikes. He allowed all three home purchases.
Minnesota -Lastare Louis Varland, Jhoan Duran and Danny Coulombe each delivered a speechless inning and did not allow a base runner.
Braves came on the board in the first round of a long two-run Homer by Olson, his third, then made it 3-0 in the second on an RBI single by Austin Riley.
Baldwin clubbed a two-run opposite field Homer, his second, in the third inning and Ozuna met a Solo-Homer, his fourth, to start the fifth round.
Minnesota’s Byron Buxton met his fourth home run, a 434-foot solo shot to the midfield in the seventh round. The native in Georgia went 2-for-5 with a double and was 5-for-13 in the series.
The twins are now 2-7 in the Interleague game and only 4-15 against the National League since August 25, 2024. Atlanta is 5-4 against American League team, over the last nine matches.
