Donald Trump to participate in Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans

Former President Donald Trump speaks to the crowd gathered at Landers Center in Southaven, Miss. On Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Donald Trump will be the first sitting president participating in Super Bowl, according to a statement from the US Secret Service on Tuesday.

Trump will travel to New Orleans for Super Bowl Lix and look at the twice defending champion Kansas City Chiefs put on the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Comprehensive planning and coordination has been found to ensure the security of all participants, players and staff,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. “Security measures have been further improved this year, given that this will be the first time a sitting president in the United States will participate in the event.”

The city’s security and security has been a critical topic this week after a man ran a pickup in a crowd on Bourbon Street in a terrorist act early in the morning of January 1. The Department of Homeland Security said it works with the NFL to make Caesar’s superdome the “safest place to be” on Sunday, and the FBI has 450 New Orleans staff to investigate threats and crimes this week.

Trump, whose second presidential period began on January 20, also agreed to tape a sit-down interview with Fox, which has the broadcast rights for the game this year. The Fox News anchor Brett Baier will interview Trump in Florida sometime before leaving for New Orleans, and it will be broadcast during the foreplay.

Trump also participated in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game last month in Atlanta.
