Player revival is risky when a trade deadline is blunt, so it’s always a good idea to play it safely with a money bet instead.

Still, we can’t see Los Angeles buy another superstar within a week, and Lakers plays good enough to guarantee to mix two player revocations with a spread to win some extra money.

When it comes to hockey, things will not be too chaotic until the NHL trading deadline at the beginning of next month, but we still found a venture to round off your first Thursday in February.

Further with the elections:

NBA: Sacramento Kings at Portland Trail Blazers (22:00 ET)

We are still trying to process Lavin of the latest business throughout the association, so we can forgive ourselves for ignoring how good Portland has played in recent weeks.

Blazers has recovered from a five-game skid by winning nine of its last 10 to close within 3 1/2 matches from a play-in spot in the western conference. And it’s not like they are screaming past either. Six of the nine victories have been with double -digit, and their lone loss came with 10 at league -leading Oklahoma City.

Portland will shoot for its sixth straight victory when it hosts a Sacramento squad that fell on visiting Orlando 130-111 on Wednesday in Zach Lavines Kings debut. The twice All-Star only succeeded 13 points in 31 minutes.

Sacramento has now lost five out of seven, and a back-to-back does not offer a team much time to develop solid chemistry with its last start. With that in mind, I am comfortable to support the growing blazers on their home ground.

NBA: Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers (22:00 ET)

Both teams have been very busy near the trade deadline, and there is no guarantee that any of the troops will not make a final move in the eleventh hour.

The dust from the earth-scaling Davis-for-Doncic trade finally began to settle when Los Angeles reportedly acquired Mark Williams from Charlotte on Wednesday in a deal that netted Lakers a necessary large man.

The latter trade came hours after the Golden State made Jimmy Butler and Miami warmed a solid by acquiring the dissatisfied six-time all-star in a multi-team transaction per multiple reports.

It is unclear what the arrangements will look like in Los Angeles on Thursday evening, but Lakers should continue a wave that has seen them win three straight matches and eight of their last nine.

Each of Los Angeles three last victories has come with at least 16 points, with LeBron James who leads the Lakers in points and helps each time. Warriors have lost two of their last three, including a loss of 131-128 in Utah on Wednesday.

It is a secure bet (right?) That James will not be traded, so we expect a different dynamic performance from the future Hall of Famer in a compelling Los Angeles victory.

NHL: Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers (19:00 ET)

The last team from Washington to dare I-95 for a game in Philadelphia did not go so well. If it had done so, we would be a few days from watching Jayden Daniels become the first rookie quarter hill that ever started a Super Bowl.

While the commanders will have to wait until at least September to get a new crack on the Eagles, the capitals may recover any boastful rights for the DC area in the meantime if they can take down a declining aircraft.

Philadelphia has been faced with a stretch of 5-0-1 in two matches from a playoffs on January 21. Flyers have gone only 1-5-1 in their last seven matches and did only eight times during that range. They were empty in three straight matches before finally breaking through in a 3-2 home loss to Utah on Tuesday.

In the meantime, Washington matched almost Filadelfia’s latest offensive production during Tuesday’s 6-3 home victory over Florida. That victory followed two straight overtime defeats where the capitals scored four goals in both competitions.

By zooming out, Washington enters Thursday ranked second in the league in both goals (3.55) and allowed goals (2.45) per match, while the Flyers are ranked in the lower half of both categories.

Let’s not think about this.
