New York Yankees Right Hander Marcus Stroman rejected the idea of knocking out of bull this season after reporting to Camp on Friday in Tampa, FLA.
Stroman is not expected to do Yankee’s starting rotation – and he does not agree.
“I’m a starter,” Stroman said repeatedly. “I won’t hit the bull. I’m a start. I’m a start.”
Stroman chose to participate in training sessions over the past two days after completing his physical on Tuesday.
“At this stage in my career, I prioritized to make my body ready. I don’t think there was a need for me to be here in recent days, given the climate.”
Stroman also treated the potential to be traded away from New York.
“I’m so grounded at this time. Nothing can really disappear,” he said about trade in rumors. “I know who I am as a jug. I can compete at all levels with any team. If I’m here, if I’m not here, my body is ready to roll. I’m ready to go out and give 30-plus starts. ”
With Stroman in mind, Yankee’s manager Aaron Boone was asked by reporters about the opportunity to use a sex man rotation this season.
“Never say never. I mean, I don’t necessarily see us, but we’ll see where we are,” Boone said.
Stroman, who will be 34 years in May, signed with Yankees for the 2024 campaign and made 29 starts among his 30 performances in the regular season. He went 10-9 with a 4.31 era and recorded 113 strikes and 60 walks over 154 2/3 rounds.
New York did not urge Stroman to look up in the playoffs when Yankees advanced to the World Series before losing to Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.
Since then, Yankees signed the free agent left -hander Max Fried, and their starting rotation 2025 seems to contain Gerrit Cole and Fried at the top, followed by Carlos Rodon, Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil, last year’s American League Rookie of the Year. Yankees also traded Nestor Cortes to Milwaukee this season to acquire closer to Devin Williams.
Stroman has a career record of 87-85 with two rescues, two endings, one 3.72 era and 1,204 strikes in 261 performances (252 starts) for Toronto Blue Jays (2014-19), New York Mets (2019, 2021), Chicago Cubs (2022-23) and Yankees.
