Women’s Top 25 Roundup: No. 12 Ohio State handles No. 23 Michigan State

Freshman Jaloni Cambridge met five 3-points shots on the way to a season high 33 points and no. 12 Ohio State handled No. 23 Michigan State for an 89-78 victory Wednesday evening in Columbus, Ohio.

Ajae Petty’s 23 points and 15 returns and Cotie McMahon’s 17 points also increased Ohio State (24-4, 13-4 Big Ten Conference), which shot 54.8 percent from the field.

Theryn Hallock poured 29 points, which made all five of her 3-point attempts, and Grace Vanslooten noted 19 points for Michigan State (20-7, 10-7), who tried to climb back by surpassing Buckeyes 15-2 during the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to pull within 81-74.

Baskets of McMahon and Cambridge helped Ohio State, which led 54-41 at half time, get back on track. Cambridge had 29 points through three blocks.

Michigan State got help from 25-for-27 shooting on a free throw but could not take full advantage of Ohio State 14 sales.

No. 2 UCLA 91, Wisconsin 61

Lauren Betts pumped in 26 points on 11-for-12 shooting from the floor and a 4-for-4 malpractice on the free throw when Bruins walked in Madison, WIS.

UCLA (27-1, 16-1 Big Ten) rolled, especially with a large third quarter, which stretched the margin to 70-40 into the fourth quarter. Timea curtains had 14 points from the bench and Londynn Jones delivered 13 points for Bruins.

Serah Williams collected 22 points and Ronnie Porter listed 13 points for Wisconsin (13-15, 4-13), which was 4-for-16 on 3s.

No. 18 West Virginia 75, Utah 46

JJ Quinerly pumped in a career best 38 points on 16-for-21 shooting from the field in the volatile victory in Morgantown, W. Va., Where she played for perhaps the last time in the regular season’s final.

No other player for rock climbers (22-6, 12-5 Big 12) reached double numbers, but Quinerly was good on four of her five 3-point attempts and went 2-for-2 at the Foul line. West Virginia held a 30-18 half-time edge.

The Maye Tour received 12 points for Utah (21-7, 12-5), which went 7-for-32 on 3-points as part of 31.5 percent shooting from the field. Other scored 17 field goals and they were accused of 28 sales.

No. 10 TCU 91, Houston 56

Hailey van Lithly emptied four 3-point pictures as part of a 26-point performance in Fort Worth, Texas.

Madison Conners 15 points and Sedona Princes 13 points also helped the horned frogs (27-3, 15-2 Big 12), which led 52-21 at half time behind Van Lith’s 20 points. TCU, who shot 54 percent from the field for the game, went 13-for-28 on 3-points.

Gigi Cooke picked up 25 points and Laila Blair had 15 points for Houston (5-23, 1-16), which could not overcome a 42-26 rebounding deficit.

No. 21 Oklahoma State 74, Cincinnati 64

Anna Gret Asis 15 points went five cowgirls in double numbers at Stillwater, Okla.

Micah Gray counted 14 points, Tenin Magassa and Stailee heard both had 12 points and Alexia Smith noted 10 points for Oklahoma State (23-5, 13-4 Big 12). Heard also had nine returns.

Jillian Hayes led Bearcats (15-12, 7-10) with 15 points, while teammates Reagan Jackson (12), A’riel Jackson (11) and Tineya Hylton (11) also reached double numbers.
