Hello there! If you remember gaming content at Deadspin from years ago, it was probably me who imprisoned it. I’m back!
And maybe are apropos, I come to you with an exciting shark-Canadian meets from this long Thursday hockey slate. We need something to stay busy until the baseball season starts, am I right?
Let’s analyze what I like about this in total.
Well, to begin with, we are likely to think of Sam Montembeault on the network for Montreal. In previous years, the 28-year-old goalkeeper would not induce such a positive reaction from both Canadia’s fans and players, but times have changed this season.
Montembeault has the best season of his life. The 2.90 goal-towards the average he currently has would be decisive would be the best such brand he has ever put out if it ends there at the end of the season, while .899 Saving percent that he practices is right around the best brand in his career (.903 last year).
In addition, Montembeault already has more victories (20) than he has ever had in a campaign. Not only that, he is bound for the second most suspensions in the NHL with four-inclusive one in his last excursion two days ago against Carolina.
Montembeault clearly feels good right now, and we hope that his excellent game since Four Nations Face-Off Break continues into this.
Helping our cause will be matchup, as the sharks have scored fewer goals this year (151) than all except two clubs in the league. Oh, and they are ranked dead last in the position with only 38 points. Bleh.
When it comes to San Jose’s target situation, that’s not pretty. Alexander Georgiev was once a very promising youth in the New York Rangers organization and performed well there for several years as a backup. However, since that term of office, he has been largely inconsistent.
In fact, he has been so much that he was sent mid -season from Colorado to San Jose just a few months ago for another goalkeeper. In some way, Georgiev has been even worse in his new excavations compared to the avalanche, which is proven by the ugly 3.94 GAA that he has gathered in his 15 matches (14 starts) with the sharks.
From the press time it is not known who will be in the network for the NHL’s basement. Perhaps it will be the recently returned from-injury Vitek Vanecek, which comes from a sensational effort on his own when he almost beat the NHL’s best team.
That show came on Monday night, when Vanecek stopped 33 out of 35 shots in Winnipeg. He even had a suspension to go late in the third, but unfortunately Jets knotted 1-1 on a goal with 26 seconds left before winning overtime.
Maybe Vanecek will be rewarded with another start. And why not? The sharks have no idea who their goalkeeper for the future is. Vanecek makes at least a better requirement for the starting job than Georgiev is.
Montreal has a couple of talented players on his first row with Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. Although they cause some injuries, I have confidence like Montembeault will create their usual solid work at home to help take a lower score.
Montembeault has played much better this season at the Bell Center than on the road, and during the process the Canadiens has produced a record 17-12-1 for miracle in its 30 home games.
