Cleveland Brown’s owner Jimmy Haslam refused to meet the defensive end Myles Garrett in the wake of All-PRO’s trade request, several media reported on Friday.
Brown’s ownership told Garrett to talk to general manager Andrew Berry, who monitors football operations, according to NFL Network.
Garrett, 29, publicly announced his desire for a trade on February 3, and made it clear that his goal is to win a Super Bowl, not make more money.
Berry said at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis that the team has no plans to buy Garrett.
“I wouldn’t really touch on any conversations I have with other teams, just respectfully,” Berry said. “I don’t think it is appropriate just for current and future business, but it is irrelevant to this situation because we are not interested in shopping Myles.”
Garrett has two seasons left for five years extension of $ 125 million which he signed in 2020.
Garrett has taken up 102.5 bags, 20 forced fumbles, 200 quarterback hits and 116 tackles for loss in 117 career regions (114 starts). He has made five straight pro bowls and six in total and was the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Browns has reached the playoffs twice in Garrett’s eight seasons during a total of three games after the season.
