Bodie first caught millions of attention as the runner on season 22 of the voice, and his dedicated fanbase has only grown since, thanks to his unique sound and artistry. The “Whisper and the Wind” singer continues to imprison listeners all over the world with heartfelt texts and authentic stories. After the publication of its 2024 EP, ‘happy to be here,’ Bodie has revealed a reimagined version, ‘happier to be here’, with remix of two of its six original tracks. The project contains an acoustic version and remix of “RIP”, as well as a remix and acoustic version of “Whisper and the Wind.” In an exclusive interview with Celebmix, Bodie opens up “happier to be here,” upcoming music and more.
What can you tell us about the reimaginated version of ‘happy to be here’, entitled ‘Happy to be here’, and what does it do different from the original version?
My remix project ‘Happier Being here “is a fun game on a couple of my favorite songs from my previous EP,”HAPPY To be here. ‘This 4-song remix project contains two fantastic features and a very healthy and unique hold of my previous events. I have already released a track from the project and the remaining 3 [are out now].
Your single “Whisper and the Wind” gets incredible speed. How does it feel and why do you think it reasoned with so many listeners?
This song is a heart that I think many can relate to. It is a song that takes up the inevitable battle that comes with how we often perceive God when he does not “show up” in a way we wanted him to do. I wanted to admit and deal with the truth that “I don’t have to see it to believe, love is not a secret that you hold, you are with me in the whisper (silence silent) and the wind (the big mountain peak miraculous moments).” That we do not have to look so hard to find and feel the God who created the universe. He is for you and wants to go through all the things with you.
How do you approach songwriting and production differently when you create a single versus an EP?
There is no difference. I write music either by myself or with my homies and then my team and I decide, when, how we release it.
What can fans expect from your upcoming new music later this year? Will it explore new directions?
I am very happy to release the new [music]. It definitely strikes some new sounds as well as some older vibes from my previous music. Album Mode 2025. Yup, I said it!
How do you think your journey as an artist has developed since you first appeared in your voice?
The show confirmed and reminded me of who I am as an artist. It gave me a platform to be who I was and I learned lots of myself through that process. It created me mentally to take the next step in my career.
Finally, for fans who are currently discovering your music, what do you want them to know about you and the music you create?
I make music for you. Whether your Christian, agnostic, atheist, Muslim, Jewish or something in between. I make music that is honest and genuine for my life and my experiences and I create it with the hope that it is the soundtrack for your everyday life. My music carries hope, fun and truth and it also goes too hard.
