The Boston Bruins long traded the Franchise Fix Tour Brad Marchand to Florida Panthers at Friday’s trade deadline, according to several reports.
The deal was a Stunner because there was no speculation that the four-o’clock All-Star and the team captain would be treated. What Bruins got was not immediately known.
Marchand was in his 16th season with Bruins and had said he wanted to end his career in Boston. But contract extension calls did not go well and Marchand will be an unlimited free agent after the season.
The 36-year-old wing is currently out with an upper body injury. Most recently, he played March 1 is considered a week to week.
Marchand is ranked as fourth in Bruin’s history in played games (1,090) and goals (422), fifth in points (976) and sixth in assists (554).
Marchand was a key figure when Boston won the Stanley Cup 2011. He had 11 goals and eight assists in 25 games after the season. In total, he had 56 goals and 138 points in 157 playoffs.
Marchand had 21 goals and 47 points in 61 matches this season. It is his 12th straight 20-goal season and 14th overall. His career high for goals is 39 years 2016-17.
His career best at 100 points was achieved during the 2018-19 season.
Panthers (81 points) have the second most points in the eastern conference and are about to defend their Stanley Cup title from last season.
