Utah Jazz received a fine of $ 100,000 from the NBA on Wednesday for breaking the league’s players’ participation policy.
The league said that the violation involved Lauri Markkanen, who is a star player according to the conditions for politics. NBA said Utah failed to make him available for a game March 5 against Washington Wizards and some other games.
Following Wednesday’s announcement of the fine, Jazz Markkanen’s status changed from doubtfully to play against Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday evening. He was again listed with a back injury.
It would be Markkanen’s first gaming action since February 22.
Markkanen has been kept out of the latest games despite the general assumption that he is now healthy. Part of the decision to keep him out may be because Utah has a record of 15-50 and is looking for a better draft for the next season. Jazz has lost six straight matches participating in Wednesday’s competition against Memphis.
Markkanen leads to jazz in points and is on average 19.3 points and 6.1 returns in 43 matches this season, his third with Utah and his eighth in the NBA. He was an All-Star during the 2022-23 season.
