Former NFL -quarterback and the offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich join the coaching staff under Deion Sanders at Colorado, Jordan Schultz reported from Fox Sports Wednesday.
The reports come one day after Leftwich was discovered during the exercise with a clipboard and wears Colorado football equipment. Sanders said on Monday Colorado would make “a couple of more huge features” this week but has not confirmed Leftwich’s employment.
It is unclear what Leftwich’s role will be on Sander’s staff.
Leftwich interviewed with New England Patriots for their head coaching post in January.
Leftwich, 45, most recently worked as the offensive coordinator for Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019-22, a stint that included a Super Bowl victory during the 2020 season.
Leftwich was fired by Buc’s head coach Todd Bowles after the 2022 season, who saw Tampa Bay slip from top 3 in points the previous three seasons to No. 15 on shipyard and no. 25 in points 2022.
Leftwich had a quarterback and the first round of Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL draft 2003, Leftwich EN 24-26 record with 10 532 passed turns and 58 Touchdowns in 60 matches with Jaguars (2003-06), Atlanta Falcons (2007), BUCS (2009)
He also worked in various roles, including the interim offensive coordinator for Arizona Cardinals from 2016-2018.
