Miami Open 2025 Day 2 Recap - The Player Lounge

The Miami Open 2025 round of 128 ended on Thursday, and it was a bad day for the American contingent, with four of the five in action that lost.

One of them was inevitable when Reilly Opelka defeated Wildcard Christopher Eubanks, but Giron, Tien and Brooksby fell at the first obstacle.

Tien was part of today’s most awaited match against Joao Fonseca, with the Brazilian prevailing in three sets in front of a glowing audience.

Fonseca tops Tien

Joao Fonseca, who was fresh a Challenger 175 title in Phoenix and a Career High No. 60 in the ATP Ranking, attracted the predominantly pro-Latin American audience at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday and pulled off a 6-7 (1), 3-6, 6-4 comeback victory over Learner.

Reilly Opelka’s return to Masters 1000 Action After two years, the large serving American edge looked out Wildcard-Eubanks in a narrow second set tiebreak. He has Matteo Berrettini next, so expect more from a serve party.

Today’s upset? Bu yunchaokete takes Norrie down in straight sets. Norrie, a former top 10-Stalwart, could not find an answer, and if Bu replicates his pure striking screen, he can cause Taylor Fritz problems in round 2.
