Boone Jenner had two goals and one assist and Columbus Blue Jackets collected from a three-goal deficit to publish a 7-6 victory against the visiting Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
Kent Johnson scored the only goal in three-round shootout. Jenner has four goals in his last three matches for Blue Jackets, which has won two right after losing sex in a row. Dante Fabbro had a goal and two assists, while Kirill Marchenko, Mathieu Olivier and Denton Mateychuk each had a goal and an assist. Columbus Elvis Merzlikins made 31 rescues.
Aatu Raty did twice for Canucks, who had won two straight. Brock Boeser noted a goal and an assist, while Linus Karlsson and Tyler Myers also scored. Pius Suter and Kiefer Sherwood each had three assists and Kevin Lankinen made 32 rescues.
Blue Jackets band it on 5-all with 3:14 left in the third period when Marchenko’s shot was diverted in off Jenner on a Power Play. Then with 2:52 left, Olivier scored from the track to put Columbus forward 6-5, but Ratu scored from the top of the fold from a Dakota Joshua pass with 2:29 left.
Panthers 2, Utah Hockey Club 1 (OT)
Sam Bennett netted the only two goals for Florida, including the game winner with 42 seconds left in overtime to defeat Utah in Sunrise, FLA.
Bennett noted the winner of an assist from Brad Marchand and made a backhand shot from the bottom of the left circle. Marchand debuted Panthers after being acquired from Boston Bruins in early March and lacked time due to an upper body injury.
Sergei Bobrovsky had 13 rescues for Florida, who won their second straight. Sean Durzi scored Utah, who dropped his third game in a row, while Karel Vejmelka made 30 rescues.
Hurricanes 4, Canadian 1
Jackson Blake snapped a scorer with one goal and two assists when Carolina defeated Montreal on Raleigh, NC
Hurricanes’ Taylor Hall and Sebastian Aho scored in a 2 1/2 minute span from the second period. Andrei Svechnikov made an empty net. Seth Jarvis and Blake recorded each one on both teams’ goals for the second period. Frederik Andersen made 14 rescues to secure a victory in his sixth outing in a row.
Josh Anderson had the game’s first goal, but Montreal only managed seven shots on goal through the first two periods. Sam Montembeault made 21 rescues in Canadia’s fifth straight loss.
Jets 4, Devils 0
Alex Iafallo made twice to help Winnipeg a victory against visiting New Jersey.
Mark Scheifele had a goal and one assist and Kyle Connor had two assists for Jets, who passed vacant Washington Capitals for the top spot in the NHL. Connor Hellebuyck made 24 rescues.
Jake Allen turned to 15 shots for the devils, who lacked Luke Hughes, held out with a lower bodily injury for precautionary reasons. New Jersey has lost five of its last seven games (2-4-1).
Golden Knights 5, Blackhawks 3
Pavel Dorofeyev made the prominent goal on a power play with 3:11 left and Victor Olofsson had two goals to increase the visit Vegas to a victory against Chicago.
William Karlsson got three assists and Mark Stone had one goal and helped when the Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights stretched their winning line to five matches. Brett Howden also scored and Adin Hill stopped 18 shots for Vegas.
Chicago remained fluent behind Ryan Donato’s first career hat trick. Ilya Mikheyev had two assists and Spencer Knight made 17 rescues when the Blackhawks took their ninth loss in 10 matches (1-8-1).
Anchor 5, Rangers 4 (OT)
Leo Carlsson once made in a career best lighthouse game and Mason Mctavish netted the winner 59 seconds to overtime to give the host Anaheim a comeback victory over New York.
Cutter Gauthier and Olen Zellweger each had a goal and an assist and Alex Killorn also scored for The Ducks, who recorded a couple of late goals in regulation to send the game to overtime. Lukas Dostal made 26 rescues.
Adam Fox, JT Miller and Alexis Lafreniere gathered each one for Rangers, which has won only once during the last six excursions (1-4-1). Mika Zibanejad also scored, and Igor Shesterkin stopped 28 shots.
