Johni Broome set out and trained Tuesday and will be held out again on Wednesday when Auburn Tigers complements the preparations on Campus for his game with Florida Gators on Final Four in San Antonio.

Broome, this year’s Southeastern Conference Player, left a short Auburn’s regional last victory over Michigan State with an elbow injury. Tigers coach Bruce Pearl said that Broome would probably be on the floor for parts of the exercise on Thursday before Tigers met Texas and follows Florida with a planned workout in the stadium planned for noon on Friday.

Assistant coach Steven Pearl said on the next round of Podcast Tuesday that Broome would “continue to rehabene the seven different things he hurt on one game. … As the week progresses, his status also does.”

Broome was completely capable of climbing a ladder and cutting down the nets after the South region, but he seemed to damage his left leg on the same game that taxed his right elbow.

Pearl said there is “no harm” on Broome’s elbow after testing but has “stress” in the joint.

Broome received 25 points with 14 returns in Auburns 70-64 victory over Michigan State on Sunday in Atlanta. He is an average of 18.7 points, 10.9 returns, 2.9 assists and 2.1 blocks per match this season and is considered the only Naismith National Player of the Year challenger with a chance to challenge Duke’s Cooper Flag for first site votes.

In four NCAA tournaments last month, Broome was an average of 17.3 points and 13.3 returns per match.

Broome had 18 points, 11 returns, six assists and two blocks in Auburns 90-81 home loss to Florida on February 8.
