WTA ROUNDUP: Madison Keys fights into the next round in Charleston

Although her opponents saved seven match points, No. 2 Pressed Madison keys past Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 7-6 (4) in an All-American second round at Credit One Charleston (SC) open on Tuesday.

Dolehide saved four match points in the ninth game in the second set and two more in the 10th to force a 5-5 slip. She saved another in Tiebreaker before Keys, the Charleston champion in 2019, removed the match.

The defending champion Danielle Collins, No. 7 seed, also advanced from the second round and had 26 winners and five ace while beating other American Robin Montgomery 6-3, 6-1. Another match in the second round was planned for the nightclub, with No. 8 Frö Amanda Anisimova in front of Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova.

The results in the first round included winners Americans Sofia Kenin, Hailey Baptiste, Louisa Chirico, Ann Li and Lauren Davis; China’s Shuai Zhang; Mary Sakkari from Greece; And Iryna Shymanovich from Belarus.

No. 3 Seed Alycia parks and No. 4 Emiliana Arango was shown the door in the first round in Bogota, Colombia.
