Pallante (2-0) held the Phillies to two hits and two walks over seven rounds. He knocked out four.
Phil Maton threw a perfect eighth round and Ryan Helsley worked around a single in ninth for his second rescue.
Yohel Pozo went 3-for-4 with an RBI double for the Cardinals, which has won two of the last three matches.
St. Louis Shortstop Masyn Winn left the game after the first round due to back spasms.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola (0-3) allowed two runs on five hits and four walks in five rounds. He found seven.
Phillies, who has dropped three of their last four competitions, left two runners in points in the first round. With two outs, Bryce Harper went and Kyle Schwarber made up him to others. After running a double steal, Nick Castellanos lined up to finish the frame.

Lars Nootbaar went and led in the third round of the cardinals. He stole the second base and took third at Catcher Rafael Marchan’s throwing error before Nola retired the next three beats to leave Nootbaar there.
Filadelfia’s Brandon Marsh pulled a one-out walk in the fifth round, took second on Pallante’s incorrect pickoff-throw and then moved up again on a foundation. But Pallante knocked out Bryson Stott to keep the game speechless.
The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the inning. Thomas Saggese met a lead single and scored on Pozos RBI doubles.
Nootbaar accompanied a single, sent Pozo to third and took others to a wild pitch. After knocking out two beats, Nola Nolan Arenado and Burleson went to force in a run before retiring on a flight.
Three Turner met a lead single for Phillies in the ninth round and advanced to the third on two foundations. Castellanos fled out to end the game.
