Shane Pinto did twice for the Ottawa senators, who held the Montreal Canadiens from passing a playoffs with a 5-2 victory on Friday which also snapped a six-game winning line for the visitors.
The 24-year-old center’s two goals give him 50 for his career. Ridly Greig scored a goal and helped Pinto’s first while Dylan Cozens ended a 10 game distance without goals. Linus Ullmark got his sixth victory in his last seven starts by turning away 20 shots.
Christian Dvorak and Nick Suzuki scored Montreal, who received 28 saves from Sam Montembeault but saw that his personal five-game winning line ended.
The Ottawa fans celebrated even before the match when the Senators played his first home game since he dressed a playoffs earlier this week. Pinto only adds his cheer when he scored from the track on the first shift just 28 seconds after the opening feature.
Oilers 4, sharks 2
Corey Perry broke a tie during the third period, Connor McDavid had four assists and hosted Edmonton defeated San Jose to pass a playoffs for the sixth season in a row.
Evan Bouchard had a goal and an assist and for Emberson and Connor Brown also did for Oilers. Adam Henrique had two assists and Calvin Pickard made 22 rescues. McDavid reached 70 assists for the seventh time in his career and joined Wayne Gretzky (16 times) and Mario Lemieux (eight times) as the only players achieved.
Will Smith and Henry Thrun got the goals for the sharks, who lost their eighth in a row. Georgi Romanov stopped 30 shots.
Flames 4, Wild 2
Calgary gave a huge boost to his narrow playoffs with a home-ice victory over Minnesota.
Mikael Backlund, Yegor Sharangovich, Nazem Kadri and Ryan Lomberg scored all points and Dustin Wolf made 16 rescues for the flames, which improved to 3-0-2 in the last five games. Calgary is three points back by The Wild and St. Louis Blues, which holds the two Western Conference Wild-Card positions. Flames has a game in his hand.
Yakov Trenin and Gustav Nyquist responded with late goals for Minnesota, who had a winning line with two games. Wild Start goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson handed four goals on 29 shots before being drawn into the final frame. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all three shots he met in relief.
Red Wings 4, Lightning 3 (OT)
The Detroit Rookie Marco Kasper netted binding and winning goals, and Red Wings stayed alive in the playoffs with a comeback victory over host Tampa Bay.
After leveling the score of 3-3 with a goal at 12:59 in the third period, Kasper collected the puck in the neutral zone in OT and rushed in from the left to beat the lightning goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy at 3:22.
The red wings finished a ski with two games, but their only hope of reaching the season is to win their last three matches while the Canadiens release their last three.
Penguins 4, Devils 2
Sidney Crosby scored a Power-Play goal to snap a tie with 6:39 left in the third period, which drives Pittsburgh to a victory in Newark, NJ
Bryan Rust, Crosby and Evgeni Malkin finished with a goal and an assistance piece and Tristan Jarry made 26 saves for Penguins, who overcame an early two-goal deficit to improve to 4-1-1 in their last six games.
Ondrej Palat and Erik Haula scored for the devils, and Jake Allen stopped 20 shots. New Jersey has lost two in a row.
