UNC lands South Alabama QB Gio Lopez via Transfer Portal

One day after it recently arrived Quarterbacken Ryan Browne announced that he is leaving North Carolina, Heels Gio Lopez landed from the transfer portal.

Lopez was the starting Quarterbacken as a red-haired beginner at South Alabama last season when Jaguars went 7-6 and won health to Veterans Bowl.

Lopez tweeted, “excited and grateful, go heels! @Uncfootball”

According to ESPN, Lopez landed a two -year agreement of $ 4 million from North Carolina.

Lopez, a 6-foot-2, 220 pounds Alabama native, connected to 66 percent of his pass last season for 2559 meters and 18 touchdowns with five intercepts. He added 83 berries for 465 meters and seven TD.

With the new coach Bill Belichicks, Heels takes Lopez in a quarterbackkorps which also includes Max Johnson and the incoming beginner Bryce Baker. Johnson, who previously played at LSU and Texas A&M, started the 2024 opener for North Carolina but got a season-ending broken leg in that competition.

Senior Jacolby Criswell ended when takes Heels’ primary QB last season when the team went 6-7 with a loss in Fenway Bowl.

Browne arrived cards from Purdue but quickly entered the transfer portal.
