NWSL ROUNDUP: Rookie Lifts Reign Over Thorns

Rookie Maddie Dahlien scored his first professional goal when Seattle Reign defeated the visiting Portland Thorn’s 1-0 on Friday in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey made four rescues while publishing the suspension for the government (2-2-1, 7 points). Bella Bixby made four stops in the network for Portland (1-2, 5 points).

It was the 42nd meeting all the time between the Cascadia Cup rivals, the most in the league. The government leveled the series 16-16-10.

Dahlien scored in the fourth minute. Lynn Biyendolo got the ball in the middle of the field about 35 meters from the Portland network and found Dahlien on the left wing. Dahlien dribbled into the penalty area and put a low shot from about 15 meters just within the remote post. Biyendolo recorded his 31st career assistant and band Sofia Huerta for the league.

Gotham FC 4, Angel City FC 0

Esther Gonzalez got a stag for a second match in a row to lead Gotham to the victory in Los Angeles.

Geyse added his first goal for Gotham (2-1-2, 8 points), which also got its own goal halfway through the second half and moved into a fourth place with Angel City (2-1-2, 8 points) in the league.

Gonzalez opened the score in the 18th minute on a counter -attack. Jessica Silva’s cross from the right wing found Gabi Portilho in the penalty area, and she made a single condition to Gonzalez with her back to the net. Gonzalez spun and put a left shot from about 8 meters from the left post and into the net.

After Angel City’s Miyabi Moriya scored her own goal in the 67th minute, Gonzalez scored 3-0 in the 75th on a heading outside Sarah Schupansky’s corner park. Geyse made a volley from 8 meters out in 85th place from Midge Purce.

Gotham goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger was not tested to publish the suspension.

Royals 1, Stars 0

Ally Sentnor made a penalty kick in the 10th minute of the second half of stop time in Sandy, Utah and Utah got their first victory in the season.

Royal’s (1-3-1, 4 points) did not have a shot on goal until Sentnor blasted his low kick in the left side Netting and hit stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, who guessed the right way but had no chance to stop the trial.

Royals were awarded the fired when Dana Foederer made a diagonal run into the penalty area and shared two defenders to take a pass from Madison Pogarch. Foederer went down after the Chicago defender Cari Roccaro went on his right foot. Judge John Matto did not originally called a call and games continued for a few minutes before a video audit led to the penalty decision.

Chicago (1-4-0, 3 points) also put only one shot online.
