After a long first week on the road, Colorado Rockies is finally allowed to host their home opener on Friday afternoon when they start a three-game series against athletics.

Rockies sends Ryan Feltner (0-0, 3.60 era) against Osvaldo Bido (1-0, 1.80) in a matchup of right hand.

Friday is not expected to offer traditional baseball weather. The forecast requires heights in the mid-1940s and afternoon showers at the first pitch and snow possible later, which is a familiar April scenario in Denver.

Rockies enters its first home game after losing five of six in Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. Colorado made only three runs in suffering from a three-game-sweep in the hands of Phillies and only 11 runs in the first six matches.

The starting platelet has been solid, but the bull has been hit hard. Feltner, at the beginning of Sunday against Rays, allowed two runs on four hits and knocked out five, but he left after five rounds with Rockies down 2-1. They eventually lost, 6-4.

Feltner had a tough way back to the rotation after being hit in the head with a line drive on May 13, 2023. He returned for two starts on September and made 30 starts in 2024.

One of them came against A’s on May 23. He did not allow a drive over six rounds in his only career look against them. Colorado wound up to lose 10-9 in 11 rounds of 21 one-run for Rockies last season.

Feltner feels he can help Rockies turn some of these close losses.

“Everyone talks about Dodgers, but we play them close every year,” Feltner said. “We all play very close. It’s just about pulling out the little victories, getting the tight winnings. … It’s about the last little 2 percent.”

A’s Enter Friday on a four-game losing line after being swept at home by Chicago Cubs. They had a free Thursday to get ready for a chilly weekend in Denver.

Bido will try to end the losing line in his first career game against Colorado. The 29-year-old Bido has one of the two athletics this season, which allows a earned run for five rounds Saturday at Seattle.

Bido is in his third major league season and others with the A’s after starting their career with Pittsburgh. Bido made 16 performances and nine starts in each of their first two seasons and joined athletics athletics full -time at the end of July.

He was 3-1 with a 1.55 era in August last year and he has impressed his manager with his potential.

“I like that he kind of flew under the radar,” said Mark Kotsay in spring training. “You look at these numbers and they are quite impressive. I’m happy with Bido’s opportunity here and the impact he could have. … I think this child can be an impact Frontline Starter.”
