Angela Stanford moves up to the captain’s chairman of the American team in the Solheim Cup 2026, which will take on Europe in the Netherlands next year.

Stanford, 47, competed in the Solheim Cup on six occasions as a player and vice captain in each of the last three.

“I am extremely grateful to be named the next American captain for the Solheim Cup and join a list of my heroes in the game. I have always thought that I represent more than myself on the LPGA tour, and there is no greater honor than representing your country,” Stanford said in an LPGA -statement Thursday. “I think this is the tip of my career, and I look forward to leading our players to the Netherlands 2026.

Stanford replaces Stacy Lewis, which led the American team during the last two Solheim cups.

“Angela Stanford will surely be a wonderful captain of the American team at the Solheim Cup 2026,” said Liz Moore, Interim LPGA Commissioner.

“Angela has always been a spark on and off the track, a real leader and a dedicated partner to her teammates. It is now her time to take Roret in the American team, and I do not doubt she will lead her squad to a successful week in the Netherlands.”

Stanford is a native in Texas who joined the LPGA tour in 2001. She has recorded seven careers LPGA victories including a Major-Evian Championship 2018-name she retired from full-time competition golf after the 2024 season.

The next Solheim Cup will be questioned from September 11-13, 2026 at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, the Netherlands.
