Anthony Robinson II collected 15 points, seven assists, five returns and four steals on Saturday, and helped No. 21 Missouri to win an 87-74 victory over Georgia in Southeastern Conference Play in Athens, GA.
Caleb Grill added 15 points and four steals, while Mark Mitchell had 14 for Missouri (19-6, 8-4 SEK), who won his second straight match. Tamar Bates chipped in 13 points for Tigers, which surpassed Georgia 49-33 during the second half.
Asa Newell led Georgia (16-10, 4-9) with 23 points and 10 returns. Silas Demary Jr. Got 16 and Blue Cain had 14 when the bulldogs dropped their third in a row.
After led by three at halftime, Georgia took its last lead on Newell’s layout with 17:55 left in the second half, giving Bulldogs a 47-46 edge.
From there, Robinson’s back-to-back baskets began a 9-0 Missouri driving to take a 55-47 advantage with 15:12. Newell’s dunk trimmed Georgia’s deficit to 58-54, but Missouri seized the control with a 15-0 driving, including Robinson’s seven points and Mitchell’s four, to help Tigers build a 19-point lead with 9:26 left.
Grill’s Triple at Marked Missouri’s biggest lead at 85-66, before Newell and De’shayne Montgomery’s arrangement pulled Georgia within 15. Tigers impressive second half was limited with Tony Perkins Fastbreak Dunk on Newell with 1:22 left.
Demary started the score with a free throw before the match began, when Missouri threw Mark Mitchell in the lineup and changed his original start five and cost the Tigers a technical foul.
RJ Godfrey and Demary’s baskets gave Georgia a 9-7 edge, before Bates joined their second triple during the first half.
After Demary’s Mid-Range Jumper and Newell’s Dunk, Bulldogs put forward 20-19, Josh Gray’s arrangement, Mitchell’s Dunk and Bates’ Triple gave the Tigers a 26-20 lead with 8:18.
Georgia then responded with a 12-3 run, stamped with Demary and Cains Back-to-back 3 points. Cain’s layout of Georgia’s final possession gave Bulldogs a lead of 41-38.
