Arizona State didn’t have to go far to find her next women’s basketball coach and hired Molly Miller away from the Grand Canyon.
Miller led the Grand Canyon to his first NCAA tournament this season. The 13th-seated Lopes lost their first round to Fourth-seeded Baylor, 73-60, on Friday in Waco, Texas.
The defeat crushed the 30-game winning line for the Grand Canyon, which ended the season 32-3. Sun Devils had not yet made the news officially from noon on Saturday, but the Grand Canyon Athletic Director Jamie P. Boggs issued a statement that thanked Miller and said that the next Lopes coach would be revealed on Monday.
“We would like to thank Coach Molly Miller for her five seasons leading our program and culminated with the first conference title and NCAA tournament for women’s basketball,” Bogs said. “We wish her the best in her new opportunity.”

Earlier this month, Arizona State fired coach Natasha Adair, who was 29-62 for three seasons.
