Arthur Rinderknech goes the distance in Montpellier -opener

No. 7 Frö Arthur Rinderknech beat colleague Harold Mayot 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-1 to proceed at Open Occitanie on Tuesday in Montpellier, France.

Rinderknech, ranked 61st the world, fired 16 aces and overcame seven double errors while saved 14 out of 16 break points to Best Mayot.

No. 5 Seed Tallon Griekspoor in the Netherlands had an easier time to pass countryman Botic van de Zandschulp 7-5, 6-3 in its opener. Griekspoor saved 5 of 7 break points, went 4-for-4 to break the opponent’s serving and benefited by 10 double errors by van de Zandschulp.

Other winners included American Christopher Eubanks, Italian Mattia Bellucci, qualifying Richard Gasquet and Constant Lestienne, both in France, all in straight sets. Eubanks will meet No. 1 Seed Andrey Rublev from Russia in the round of 16.
