Atlanta United announced signing Friday to the home -grown defender Dominik Chong Qui until 2028 with an alternative for 2029.
Chong Qui made his first career ML’s start last Sunday against New York City FC. After 17 years and 90 days he became the second youngest player in the Atlanta story to start a match.
“I really believe in him,” said head coach Ronny Deila after Chong Quis’s debut on March 1. “We have a player for the future, and not just for the future, he can do something now. … he just needs to continue training and printing, because he has something special.”
Chong Qui joined the club’s youth ranking 2022. He scored two goals in 17 matches (12 starts) last season with MLS Next Pro Affiliate Atlanta United 2.
