Jake Cronenworth joined Jackson Merrill on the injured list before San Diego Padres hosted Colorado Rockies Friday night.
And San Diego continued and published an 8-0 shutdown for his eighth victory this year at Petco Park. Padres will try to make it 13 home in succession, by going back to last season, in the center game in the three-game series on Saturday.
“We play good baseball,” said other bass man Jose Iglesias, who relaxed two RBI singles in a six-run fifth round on Friday. “We run the bases really well. Our jugs are running very well.”
The fifth round saw Padres send 12 men to the plate. The only extra bashite was Manny Machados RBI ground rule doubles, but they added five singles and two walks while using two errors from Catcher Hunter Goodman.
It was a representation of what manager Mike Shildt promised that his team would do after Cronenworth (Cracked Rib) went on the shelf.
“Winner spot solutions and that’s what we try to do every day,” Shildt said. “We have a good club. We have many good parts. We have a deep team.”
One of the good parts, right Felfter Fernando Tatis Jr., returned to the lineup after missing Wednesday’s game with a shoulder problem. He gathered two hits, including a solo -female, and swept his sixth base to bind Machado for the team.
Leftander Kyle Hart (1-0, 11.12) gets the start and will try to bounce back from a rough outing on Sunday, when he failed to do so from the first inning against Chicago Cubs, which allowed five runs when he walked four. San Diego gathered for an 8-7 victory.
While Padres is trying to stay undefeated at home, Colorado is trying to bounce back from another exhaust loss. Rockies are only 3-10 and have been outscored 76-40 in the season.
Rockies, however, have hope for the future in hard throwing right hand Chase Donlander. The former college pitcher at Tennessee won his MLB debut on Sunday with a 12-5 decision on athletics, which enabled four runs in five rounds and knocked out six.
“I was pumped. I tried my best to do it a bit,” Donlander said. “But sometimes you have to let it eat. And when I stayed it was really fun.”
Dreating can let it “eat” like few others. His fast ball came to 99.3 km / h and his cutter hit 90.9. To pick him up from Triple-A Albuquerque was a natural step for a team that must emphasize the future because the present seems bleak in a division that may have three playoffs in October.
Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Padres are on their way to a combined 32-10 to start the season, while Arizona Diamondbacks plays .500 ball at 7-7
The only bright place offensively on Friday night for Colorado was the other Baseman Kyle Farmer, who had all his hits, including two doubles.
