The $1 million DOTA tournament begins with 16 teams competing in a group stage using a modified Swiss system. Group stage matches consist of a single map at the start, then best-of-three for matches that determine progression or elimination.
The top eight teams in the group stage advance to the double-elimination playoffs. All playoffs will be best-of-three except for the grand final on February 2, which will be best-of-five.
In four games that tied the teams at 1-1 on Saturday, the squads played on just one map. Talon esports got the best of Tundra esports, Parivision defeated Yakult Brothers, Gaimin Gladiators got the best of Aurora Gaming and Team Falcons bested wildcards.
Two elimination matches were held, with Xtreme Games blanking Chimera esports 2-0 and Avulu sinking Shopify Uprising by the same score.
