Richie Saunders got a gaming high 22 points and byu led for all except 26 seconds by a 91-57 BIG 12 conference blowout of No. 23 Kansas on Tuesday in Provo, Utah.

The defeat margin matched the largest for Kansas in 22 years under coach Bill Self, who said: “I thought we were awful, and I thought (cougars) were fantastic. They did everything they looked at and then all the mistakes we made they got us to pay. ”

Trevin Knell added 15 points and eight returns for Cougars (18-8, 9-6 Big 12), which bombarded the Jayhawks with 14 3-points in 36 attempts and shot 51.5 percent from the field. Mawot Mag counted 13 points and went 3 out of 4 from 3-point intervals, while Keba Keita contributed 10 points and nine returns. Dallin Hall chipped in 10 points and eight assists.

Hunter Dickinson scored 12 points and grabbed a match-high 14 returns for Kansas, while Reserve David Coit added 11 points, but it was not close to enough. The Jayhawks made only 36.5 percent of their shots, including 9 out of 32 3-point attempts, and downed 43-33 on the boards.

In the hope of regrouping after taking a loss of 74-67 loss on Saturday night in Utah, Kansas (17-9, 8-7) was instead outclassed in all aspects of the game. The Jayhawks turned the ball over 15 times, 14 of them via steal and forced only 10 sales. They allowed 20 fastbreak points.

Byu opened a 20-point half-time management and simply continued to add a helpless opponent. The margin reached 30 at the mark 14:06 in the second half via a 3-point of Egor Demin and climbed to 38 in the last 2 1/2 minute.

The pregame stories concerned byU’s need for a signature win to help their NCAA tournaments and Jayhawks desire to simply play sharper basketball. It didn’t take long to see which side would get what it wanted.

Knell splashed a 3-pointer to start the game and Cougars led 8-0 before Kansas came on the board. The margin reached 10 at the mark 14:42 when Keita thumped a lob pass from Knell.

The margin stayed in double numbers for the last 26:16 play and reached 46-26 at the break when Knell drilled a corner 3-pointer with 1:18 left.
