Columbus Blue Jackets will try to save a division of their four-game road trip while visiting New Jersey Devils on Tuesday in Newark, NJ
The blue jackets enjoyed a winning line of four games before they started their hike by releasing a couple of inclined decisions in Sunshine State. Columbus regained his foot on Sunday with a decisive 7-3 rush over the New York Rangers.
Adam Fantilli recorded her second hat trick for the season to increase his goal a total of 10 in his last 16 games.
“I feel safe,” Fantilli said. “I’ve said it so many times before I got to look at some pretty amazing centers and I had to learn just how to cool out and slow down my D-zone. I think it has helped to produce crimes in a strange way. The better you are there, the less time you spend there and the faster you can get in the o-zone.
“A lot of credit to Sean Monahan and Boone Jenner. I’ve been playing behind them for a long time. It (stinks) that I could have this opportunity but I am very grateful to have it.”
Fantilli’s opportunity came at the expense of Monahan, who has been on the side of a wrist injury. Monahan scored two goals and defender Zach Werenski also counted in Columbus 4-2 victory over New Jersey on December 19.
Speaking of Werenski, he set up a couple of goals to lift his career assistant to 260 and move past Rick Nash for the Franchise record.
“I mean, it’s cool,” Werenski said about the record. “… I haven’t really thought of (the record), to be honest. I’m just trying to enjoy the year, enjoy the moment, enjoy the place we are in as a team and just keep playing and play my game.
“It’s one of the things where I don’t really care, as bad as it may sound. I just want to keep helping this team to win.”
New Jersey snapped a three-game losing slide with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon.
Erik Haula gathered a goal and an assist and Cody Glass made in his team debut, two days after he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
“It felt good,” said ice cream. “Helps to have” pull “on my line, and then (Daniel) sprong goes the same way I go through the same thing as I.
Sprong, acquired from Seattle Kraken, showed promise in his devils’ debut. He registered three shots on target in 11:24 of the ice age.
“They are opportunistic. That’s what you like,” said Devil’s head coach Sheeldon Keefe about the Haula, Sprong and ice cream line. “(Glass) gets a chance and shot it in the net.”
Defender Luke Hughes set a goal on Sunday and gave him seven assists in his last seven matches. He scored and set a goal in the previous meeting versus Columbus.
