A case of Deja Vu sounds wonderful for the Detroit pistons. For Chicago Bulls, this is something to avoid at all costs.
After thumping the host Bulls 132-92 on Tuesday, Detroit will play in Chicago again on Wednesday in the team’s pre-All-Star-Break-final.
Piston’s coach JB Bickerstaff encompasses the challenge forward and predicts a response from a Bull’s team that has lost four straight and six of the last eight.
“They are a team that has pride that has talented NBA players,” he said, “so they will get ready (Wednesday). … (our) focus must be:” Can we double this up? ” Can we come out with the same focus, the same way of thinking, to carry that momentum? “
Bull’s equivalent Billy Donovan called his team’s effort “embarrassing.” Chicago beat 71-29 at half time. 42-point Gulf matched the largest deficit at Break in Bulls history and was Piston’s biggest lead in the event of interruption all the time.
At night, the piston shot 53.1 percent from the floor, including 43.9 percent (18 out of 41) from 3-point intervals. Bulls made 35.0 percent of their field target attempts and were 10 out of 47, 21.3 percent, at a long distance.
“We’re ready to go from hope (Wednesday),” said Bulls’ Josh Giddey.
Detroit grew to his third straight victory behind big nights from Malik Beasley (24 points) and Cade Cunningham (20). Beasley shot 7-for-10 beyond the arch. His last Trey was his 212nd season and created a franchise record with a season in just 54 team games.
“It’s fantastic,” said Detroits Ausar Thompson. “To see how much he works, he is in the gym only every day and gets shot.”
Rookie Matas Buzelis led the bulls with 12 points on Tuesday and finished in double digits for the seventh game in a row.
The 11th overall election in the draft NBA 2024 has seen accelerated starts and minutes in the midst of injuries and the team’s latest trade with leading goal scores Zach Lavine to Sacramento, but Buzelis works to keep a smooth keel regardless of its workload.
“For me it doesn’t matter,” Buzelis said. “Whatever the role of Billy, I’m going to play, I’ll do it. I’m starting now, but it can change forward. It doesn’t matter to me.”
Detroit got at least one split from the season series with four games with Chicago and can claim it directly with a victory on Wednesday.
Bulls has won or shared five seasonal series in a row with their central divisional rivals, but the pistons have put that line in danger behind solid inside the game.
Detroit scored 60 points in color on Tuesday after having a total of 80 in a 127-119 home victory against Chicago on February 2.
Giddey, who followed Buzelis with 11 points on Tuesday, has received points in double figures in six straight matches against Pistons.
Beasley has beaten at least five 3 points against Chicago in each of the teams’ three meetings this season.
Detroits Jalen Duren, who snagged a match high 11 returns on Tuesday, has registered double -digit returns in eight straight matches against the bulls.
Chicago Guard Lonzo Ball is expected to play after missing the Tuesday game due to an illness and leaving knee injuries.
