Montreal Canadiens will put their five-game winning line on the line as they visit Edmonton Oilers on Thursday evening.

Canadiens start a four-match road trip to the Western Conference enemies after sweating a home-and-home series with Buffalo Sabers.

Mike Matheson extended the Canadia’s winning line when he scored the game-winning goal 1:21 to overtime in a 4-3 victory over Sabers on Monday.

After jumping to a 3-0 lead, Montreal Buffalo allowed to sneak back in the competition with three consecutive goals.

Captain Nick Suzuki continued his hot game with one goal and three assists in the hard-fought victory, giving their total to 13 points (four goals, nine assists) over a five-game point.

“I play with good players, we use each other well, the power play has been good,” Suzuki said. “It’s nice when our line feels good and we do things properly and are rewarded for it. So it’s been fun lately, and we’re just trying to continue on the road.”

Rookie Defenseman Lane Hutson continued to dazzle with a couple of assists on Monday. He became the fastest defender in franchise history that reached the 50-point mark and took only 63 games.

The current winning line represents the first time Montreal has collected five consecutive victories since February 17-26 2022.

Edmonton, however, has trends in the opposite direction too late and collected only one victory over its previous seven excursions.

However, Oilers strengthened its range on Tuesday, when they acquired hard -going forward Trent Frederic from Boston Bruins.

Frederic is a physical center that counted a career best 18 goals 2023-24. He has fought offensively this season and collected only eight goals and 15 points in 57 matches.

Frederic will not be in the lineup on Thursday because he is on the side with a lower bodily injury.

Oiler’s latest competition was an unclear 6-2 defeat at home against Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.

Leon Draisaitl stretched his score to 12 matches (10 goals, eight assists) with his league leader 45th goal of the season just under 10 minutes into the competition. However, the ducks stormed back with four goals for the first period on their way to the victory.

“The first ten minutes we checked the game and came out with a lot of energy,” said Oilers Veteran forward Corey Perry. “Then a mistake was on the back of our net, we can’t seem to get over it.”

“Then things are only discovered. It’s frustrating because we had a good start. We have to find out.”

Oiler’s superstar Captain Connor McDavid extended his score to five matches (one goal, five assists) with a goal in the third period.

The goal remained a fight for Oilers on Tuesday when Calvin Pickard allowed four goals on 11 shots before being replaced by Stuart Skinner (14 rescues) after the opening frame.

Oilers have allowed at least four goals in each of the last six losses. At the same time, the Canadian has not given up more than three in a competition throughout its winning line.
