Washington Capital’s defender Martin Fehervary will miss the rest of the playoffs after meniscus surgery, the team announced on Tuesday.
Fehervary, 25, suffered from the injury on his right knee during a April 15 match against the New York Islanders. He underwent a surgical procedure on Monday.
Fehervary registered career high totals in assists (20), points (25) and grades (plus-18) in 81 matches this season.
He has a total of 75 points (22 goals, 53 assists) and a plus-13-grade in 299 career games since he was selected by the capitals in the second round of the NHL draft 2018.
Washington will look after Alex Alexeyev, Ethan Bear and Dylan Mcilrath to help fill the void in his absence. Caps leads 1-0 in its best-by-seven Eastern Conference first round series with Montreal Canadiens, with Game 2 on Wednesday evening in Washington.
