Caps Sign D Jakob Chychrun to 8-year-old, $ 72 million extension

Washington Capitals signed defender Jakob Chychrun to an 8-year, $ 72 million contract extension Tuesday.

Among the NHL defender since the start of the 2020-21 season, Chychrun is ranked third in Power-Play goals (22) and is bound for third in goal (66).

The capitals, which acquired Chychrun from the Ottawa Senators in a trade in July 2024, are 17-0-1 this season when he scored a goal. Washington recorded on Tuesday with an NHL leading 102 points (47-15-8).
