Chelsea open talks for Garnacho as Napoli aim to up their bid: Manchester United untouched

Alejandro GarnachoThe future at Manchester United remains uncertain, with a potential transfer gathering pace. Napoli have emerged as front-runners, but Chelsea’s late entry into the bidding could change the situation significantly.

Napoli submitted an initial bid of 50 million euros (including surcharges), but Manchester United want a higher fee. Napoli manager Antonio Conte, after a direct conversation with Garnacho, is pushing hard to secure the player’s services. This intense pursuit underlines Napoli’s need to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea have also registered their interest in Garnacho and contacted both Manchester United and the player’s representatives. Chelsea are currently evaluating whether to make a formal bidindicating their willingness to compete with Napoli for the player’s services. This introduces a new element of complexity and uncertainty into the situation.

Manchester United have publicly indicated that Garnacho could be sold if the right offer is received. This is due to the need to fund the squad overhaul and create space for players who better suit manager Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. Garnacho, as a traditional outer, does not fit naturally in this system. The potential sale of Garnacho would also generate “net profit” for the club.

Revised asking price and Napoli’s renewed hope

Manchester United have reportedly reduced its asking price for Garnacho from £60m to £55m (either £46.5 million plus £8.5 million in add-ons, or £50.7 million plus £4.3 million in add-ons). This revised price has given Napoli renewed hope of securing a deal.

Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed Napoli’s serious interest, and Conte’s direct communication with Garnacho reflects his determination to sign the player. The lowered asking price has increased the chances of a successful negotiation.

Despite Napoli’s efforts, Chelsea are preparing to step up their pursuit in the hope of clinching the deal. The telegraph report that Chelsea will hold further talks with Manchester United before deciding whether to make a formal bid. But a significant complication has arisen: Garnacho’s ultimate goal is to play for Real Madrid. He reportedly sees a move to Chelsea as a stepping stone towards his long-term ambition.

Garnacho would only consider joining Chelsea on guaranteed significant playing time under manager Enzo Maresca. A lack of playing time at Chelsea would make a future move to Real Madrid highly unlikely.

Chelsea are reportedly considering alternative targets, including Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, if their pursuit of Garnacho fails. The situation is in constant change and future developments are closely monitored.
