Kansas City Chief’s ’32 -29 victory on Sunday over Buffalo Bills was the most guarded AFC championship in history with 57.4 million viewers at CBS, according to several reports.

It darkened the 55.5 million last year for Chief’s ’17 -10 victory against Baltimore Ravens. It also made it the most guarded AFC title game since the late 1980s by Nielsen’s people’s measurement system, according to Front Office Sports.

It was the highest number for all AFC or NFC title games since the New York Giants 20-17 triumph against San Francisco 49ers had an audience of 57.6 million on January 22, 2012.

Sunday’s NFC championship at FOX, which was played in the previous broadcast site, was an average of 44.2 million viewers to see the Philadelphia Eagles roll to a 55-23 victory over Washington Commander.

It was the lowest number for an NFC title game since the 2018 season.

In addition to the recent time slot, potential reasons for the much higher audience for Chiefs-Bills include the game that the game is closer and has two high-profile quarterbacks-chiefs ‘Patrick Mahomes and Bills’ Josh Allen-like the presence in the game Pop star Taylor Swift, Girlfriend to Kansas City Tight End Travis Kelce.
