Indianapolis-Travi’s Hunter played 111 snaps per match as Heisman Trophy winner at Colorado last season and lobbied bold future employers to allow him to continue double positions in the NFL.
Hunter was named a defensive back on the NFL Scouting Combine this week if only because the prospects require a position designation to schedule their four days at the event, where calendars have meetings for medical evaluations, media, drug testing, measurements (height, weight, arm’s length, etc.
“They say no one has ever done it properly as I do,” said Hunter, who refused to say which teams are part of his Indianapolis interview schedule. “I tell them that I’m just different. I’m just another person.”
Brown’s Director General Andrew Berry said on Monday that Cleveland Slots Hunter as a broad receiver first. Tennessee Titans select No. 1 and think Hunter is longer along Cornerback.
“When it comes to Travi’s Hunter, Cornerback or recipient? The answer is yes,” Berry said. “He can play both, I think that’s what makes him special. I think the recipient first, but I think what makes him a bit of a unicorn is the fact that he can do it at a high level.”
Hunter said he has made meetings with teams in both positions. He said he told me that teams that took care of his body are part of the reason why he can play two roles at the next level. He was the first team All-Big 12 in both positions last season with four interceptions on defense and 96 receptions of 1,258 meters and 15 touchdowns on crime.
The NFL financial precedent to play two positions is not a focus, he said, but Hunter is intended to be the total choice.
“That should be important,” Hunter said. “It was one of my dreams, to go # 1 and be the best I can be.”
Titan’s Director General Mike Borgonzi and head coach Brian Callahan said that there are no identical comparisons with Hunter as an opportunity, which is a unique challenge in the evaluation process and projects how huge roof can enter the league.
“We looked at him, and I don’t know if there is anyone who has ever done what he has done in modern football and played both crime and defense during the season,” Borgonzi said. “He is definitely a special player.”
