Commander employed John Madden’s grandchildren as offensive assistant

Jesse Madden was named offensive quality control coach for Washington Commander, and followed in the footsteps of Hans Hall of Fame -Farfar, John Madden.

Jesse Madden was a backup security on the Michigan list for the National Championship 2024 and unbeaten season. He moved from Quarterback after his New Year’s season to continue more playing time. He was recognized as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.

John Madden, who trained the Oakland Raiders and rose to the generation’s appearance as a high-energy ball transmitter and guiding power behind Madden football video game, died in 2021 while Jesse was on the Wolverines list.

“His grandson Jesse has been an important contributor to our team and we know that his grandfather would be proud,” said then Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh at that time.

Jesse Madden joins the Dan Quinn staff in Washington and will report to the offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, former head coach for Arizona Cardinals.

Jesse Madden’s career path would not be far from prominent NFL coach in his era.

New Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson broke into the league as a quality control coach with Detroit Lions 2019.. San Francisco 49er head coach Kyle Shanahan was a quality control coach for Tampa Buccaneers 2004. Part of his job was to use the design program Superpaint to draw plays designed by head coach Jon Gruden.

Los Angeles Ram’s head coach Sean McVay was a quality control coach for Florida Tuskers in UFL where he worked for Jay Gruden. Shanahan and McVay were both assistant coaches in Washington before moving into Marquee NFL Coaching Roller.

McVay’s grandfather was John McVay, who was the head coach of New York Giants during John Madden’s term of office in Oakland and later a prominent figure in Bay Area as head of 49ers.
