Former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was appointed the defensive coordinator for Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday.
Eberflus is not a stranger to cowboys, with whom he served as Linebacker’s coach and passes the gaming coordinator from 2011-17.
Eberflus takes over for Mike Zimmer, who left Dallas after Cowboys promoted the offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to the head coach.
Eberflus, 54, will have his work cut out for him after Cowboys finished 28th place in total lap per match (355.2) and 31st permitted points (27.5).
Eberflus spent two-plus seasons with the bears before he was fired the day after a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions and ended his term with a record of 14-32.
Before the coaching bears, Eberflus was the defensive coordinator for Indianapolis Colts from 2018-21. He was also Linebacker’s coach for Cleveland Browns from 2009-10.
