Arizona Diamondbacks placed star other basseman Ketel Marte on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a strained left hamstring.
Diamondbacks recalled colleague Infielder Tim Tawa from Triple-A Reno in the corresponding feature.
Marte was removed from Ariason’s game against Washington Nationals at the top of the first round of Friday after suffering from the injury while ending a double. He pulled up as he approached the second base and was replaced by Pinch Runner Garrett Hampson.
Marte, who signed a six -year, $ 116.5 million contract extension on Thursday, missed the time last season with ankle and back injuries that limited him to 136 matches. He still ended up in third place in the NL MVP vote.
Marte was a twice All-Star and missed time with hamstring injuries in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Marte, 31, beats .346 with an RBI and six runs in eight matches this season.
He is a career .281 Hitter with 143 Homers and 516 RBI in 1,112 games with Seattle Mariners (2015-16) and Diamondbacks.
Tawa, 25, beats .391 with three homers and 12 RBI in six matches this season with Essen.
