After three consecutive series of defeat, Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to finish their slip when they are hosted for Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.
After opening the season with three wins in a row and an 8-0 record, Dodgers has not won a series while they went 4-6. They were upwards in a couple of road series in Philadelphia and Washington, then lost two of three matches at home against Chicago Cubs over the weekend.
Los Angeles came back on track with a 5-3 victory over Colorado in the opener of a three-game series on Monday when Shohei Ohtani met a home race and his right hand Dustin May gave up a run over six rounds for his first victory since May 2023. Mookie Betts also home for Dodgers.
“That was just that, turn the page and play Dodger Baseball,” said Betts on Sportsnet LA broadcast. “We understand that we are not playing well, but guys are trying to make it happen, and I think we have to go elsewhere and let it happen.”
Los Angeles Right Hander Landon Knack (1-0, 10.38 era) will have a chance to emulate May on Tuesday when he takes Haugen for his second start of the season.
Knack hit Dodger’s season opening series in Japan against Cubs last month, but that excursion was in relief. He started on Wednesday in Washington but was beaten around in five runs over 2 1/3 rounds in Dodger’s 6-5 victory.
“Four walks a day – it’s not me,” said Knack, who blamed poor pace for his fighters. “Obviously, very frustrating.”
Knack’s opportunity to start arrived when the left hand Blake Snell went on the injured list. Injuries to others also paved the way for Knack’s Major League debut last season, and an excursion was a four-inning relief against Rockies, where he gave up a run.
The rockies will turn on Tuesday to the right hand Ryan Feltner (0-0, 2.81 era), which will make its fourth start. The best of his previous three excursions came on Thursday when he gave up a run of three hits over six rounds with seven strikes in his team’s 7-2 home victory over Milwaukee Brewers.
In six career appearance (five starts) against Dodgers, Feltner is 1-2 with a 5.79 era.
While it was another struggle for the Colorado crime on Monday, at least the club did. Rockies did not cross the plate in three matches at San Diego over the weekend and ended a franchise record 32-inning speechless distance with a run in the sixth round Monday.
Hunter Goodman met a two-run Homer for Rockies, who got the binding runners on the base in the ninth round with one out before the late uprising turned short.
Before the game, Rockie’s Kris Bryant placed on the 10-day damaged list of lumbar degenerative record disease in the lower back.
“Many players – especially at this time in their career – have to handle certain things in the body,” Rockies Manager Bud Black said, according to MLB.com. “(Bryant) had a really strict back program that we hopefully put him in a good position this season. This is just an aggravation.”
Dodgers has won 11 of their last 13 home games against Rockies and has gone 21-6 against them in total since the beginning of 2023.
