Indianapolis-Atlanta is everything on Quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
“I’m excited, I know our team is excited, our owner is excited for the future with Michael Penix,” said Falcon’s head coach Raheem Morris Tuesday at NFL Scouts Combine.
Morris said he was “disappointed” about how things ended for cousins and Atlanta. General Manager Terry Fontenot, who also met the media at Combine, said that the move to Penix was completely a “football decision” despite the latest comments from cousins that he injured the shoulder in week 10 against the saints.
Cousins, 36, enter the second year of a four -year, $ 180 million contract with a base salary of $ 27.5 million and a $ 10 million roster bonus that hits the fifth day in the league. Law is not expected to offer a draft cousins because of his heavy salary.
“Michael Penix is our quarterback. We stood here last year and talked about looking for that guy,” Morris said if cousins were still competing to start. “We think we found him.”
