Hugo Cuypers scored his fourth goal of the season and Chicago Fire turned an early deficit to complete a 2-1 victory at Toronto FC on Saturday.
Andrew Gutman also made in Chicago’s second victory in a row in his first season during the former US national team manager Gregg Berhalter.
The fire (2-1-1, 7 points) has already scored nine goals over the start of the four-game, after making 40 or fewer in each of their four 34 games MLS seasons.
In the 11th minute for Toronto (0-3-1, 1 point), DEAndre Kerr made his home schedule with a third loss in a row after a season opening of DC United.
First year’s manager Robin Fraser’s group has now admitted 10 goals in its first four match and at least two in each.
Kerr put Toronto from the front early on one of the red few positive attacking sequences. Jonathan Osorio played an early GE-and-go into Kerr on the outskirts of the penalty area before spraying the ball at the right. Kerr exceeded his defender to go in a Federico Bernardeschi Cross from about six meters.
Gutman pulled the Chicago level in the 29th minute after collecting a loose ball and dribbing against the edge of the penalty area. Gutman then released a well -beaten shot that sailed beyond goalkeeper Sean Johnson’s dive and just within the right right post.
Cuypers then put the visitors in front of just before half time. After getting a pass from the midfield, Cuypers turned and played Leonardo Barroso in space in the bottom right.
Barroso returned a cross, and although Cuypers first touch was a bit long, he recovered in time to collect the ball over the line past the charge Johnson.
Cuypers missed an excellent chance to extend Chicago’s lead about 15 minutes into the second half, with Johnson who sprinted from his line to give enough press to force Cuypers finish on the run at the right post.
Since the 70th minute, Cuypers had what seemed to be his second goal allowed for a grip by Maren Hailessie on Johnson, after a video scene.
