Flames’ Connor Zary to hear with the NHL

Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary will hear with the NHL Department for Player Safety on Thursday, one day after his hit on Vancouver Canucks Rookie defender Elias Pettersson.

Pettersson leveled Nazem Kadri with an open Ice Hit when Zary took up for his teammate. Zary released a cross check to the head of Pettersson, who had no possession of the puck.

Zary received a two -minute minor penalty for interference.

Pettersson, 21, logged another shift during the first period but did not return to the second in the Vancouver 4-3 shootout victory over Calgary on Wednesday.

Zary, 23, has 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) and 14 penalties in 49 matches this season.

He has 58 points (26 goals, 32 assists) and 36 penalties in 112 career games since he has been selected by Flames with the 24th overall choice of 2020 NHL draft.
