Giancarlo Stanton one of eight Yankees placed on IL

The New York Yankees formally designated Hitter Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list Wednesday as he continues to handle tendinitis in both elbows.

The move was retroactive until Monday.

There is no clear schedule for the return of 35-year-old Stanton. He was bothered by elbow pain last season when he beat .233 with 27 Homers and 72 RBI in 114 games.

Stanton was one of eight Yankees placed on IL on Wednesday.

Infielder DJ Lemahieu (left veal stam) was one of the others. He was injured in a spring training game on March 1. Lemahieu, 36, beat .204 with two homers and 26 RBI in 67 games last season.

Also on the injured list was the right hand Clarke Schmidt (Rotator Cuff Tendinitis), Jonathan Loaisiga (right elbow), Ian Hamilton (viral disease), Scott emissions (left hamstring tribe), JT brubaker (left rib fractures) and Clayton-Beeter (right axis (right axis).

New York also chose the right-hander Yerry de Los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
