Jung Hoo Lee met a three-run Homer in a five-run first inning from Marcus Stroman when the visiting San Francisco giants resisted heavy rain to roll to a 9-1 victory over New York Yankees on Friday night in a game called during the top of sixth.
Lee and Lamonte Wade Jr. Drove in three runs per piece when Giants mixed 11 walks and six hits to win for the 10th time in 13 matches. Rodney Ray (3-0) sometimes took the victory despite struggling with the stable rain sometimes. He allowed a run on two hits in four rounds, but went four while he walked seven.
Austin Wells contributed an RBI double in the second for Yankees, which lost for the fourth time in five matches. Stroman (0-1) allowed five runs and four hits before chasing two outs in the first for their shortest career start.
After a first delay in 27 minutes due to rain that remained throughout, Giants used a big first round to set the tone.
In his first record look since his walk-off Homer Wednesday against Cincinnati, Mike Yastrzemski doubled the game’s first pitch. After Willy Adames went, Lee 3-0 made a 1-2 belt-high sinker in the right center.
After walking to Matt Chapman and Heliot Ramos, Wade ripped a double to the right field corner for a 5-0 lead.
Wade also drew a base-loaded walk in sixth, as the rain intensified and demanded two meetings at Haugen between the judges, New York Manager Aaron Boone and the main courses Dan Cunningham.
After Wade’s walk, the tarp was put in the field and the game went into a second rain delay before he was called after about 20 minutes.
Patrick Bailey contributed an RBI double when Giants added three in fifth outside New York -Relievers Ian Hamilton and Tim Hill to continue their best start since the 2003 season.
Giants padded the lead on base -loaded ground out of Wilmer Flores before Chapman scored on a wild pitch at the hill before Bailey’s double.
