Heroic gathered for a 2-1 victory over Team Liquid on Wednesday when the Play-in console for the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice event began in Poland.
Sixteen teams compete in the Play-in console with double elimination and chase eight seats in the $ 1 million Counter-Strike group stage: Global Offensive Tournament. All Play-in matches are the best of three.
Eight teams – G2 Esports, Team Spirit, Mongolz, Team Vitality, Faze Clan, Mouz, Natus Vincere and Team Falcons – are already at the group step based on their global position early this month.
Group games will see the 16 teams divided into two double elimination consoles, with all matches best-by-three. The two group phase winners will move on directly to the semi -finals, the two group phase runners will move to the quarter finals as high seeds, and the two third place teams will make the quarter finals into low seeds.
The playoff will be single elimination, with the best-three matches for the quarter finals and the semi-final before a best-of-five grand final on February 9. The master will earn $ 400,000.
