Ilia Malinin finished with a total score of 333.31 on Sunday to secure her third straight national title at US figure Skating Championships in Wichita, can.

Malinin put together a fantastic free skate and matched a record with six quadruple jumps while becoming the first skater to land a quad shoulder. He had almost a seventh quad bike, but one case spoiled it.

“It wasn’t the perfect program I exactly wanted,” Malinin told NBC Sports. “But I think it really gives me a good, solid start of what works in this program and some things I may need to take the time to really develop or remove from the program.

“One of the things I would say is perhaps that I am still not on my full potential yet, and that there is much greater of a limit that I can go for. So I think there is something to look forward to worlds.”

Malinin ended up long before second place Andrew Torgashev, who published a total score of 286.49. It marked the third biggest victory in the history of the American championships over all events during the current scoring system, which has been used for 20 years.

Camden Pulkinen rounded off the top three with a 252.92.
