Illinois Point Guard Kasparas Jakucionis, projected as a top-10 NBA election, explained for the draft 2025 on Monday.
The 6-foot-6 Lithuanian was an average of 15.0 points, 5.7 returns and 4.7 assists as a beginner for Fighting Illini, but he told ESPN that he is ready for the next level.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” Jakucionis said. “Say goodbye to Illinois will be the most difficult part. I have created friendship and built real relationships with players, coaches, support staff and everyone around Champaign. My goal is now to work as hard as I can and be the best version of myself.”
As of Monday morning, the Illinois coach Brad Underwood was still waiting for a decision from the Canadian beginner forward Will Riley. The 19-year-old ended the season strong and is projected as a top-20 choice if he chooses to enter the draft to June 25-26, according to ESPN.
Jakucionis shot 31.8 percent from 3-point intervals in 33 starts and due to his size is seen as a combination guard.
On the negative side of the scouting report, his 3.6 sales per match will be, which was the worst in the big ten.
Jakucionis shot 84.5 percent from the free throw line.
Illinois most recently produced a draft Lotterival 2012, when Portland Trail Blazers chose Meyers Leonard on No. 11.
