Los Angeles Lakers will take a four-game of success in a road match against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.
The Lakers started the East Coast part of a six-match road trip Monday with a victory 112-107 over Charlotte Hornets. Los Angeles opened a 23-point lead less than eight minutes into the match before surviving a horror.
The extended drive of road games comes when the Grammy Awards take its annual residence in Lakers Hem arena.
Anthony Davis had 21 points and 11 returns during the first quarter for Los Angeles on Monday and finished with the season’s highest at 42 points and 23 boards while playing 37 minutes on the first night by a back-to-back. He pulled down eight offensive returns.
It was his fifth career 40-20 games, bound for the ninth most in the NBA history and the most among active players.
“He put in two days of work tonight,” said Lakers coach Jj Redick. “… he just wore us all night. We moved him around, he played with power. I thought his hands and touch and just the hunt for basketball on the offensive glass was just fantastic.”
Lebron James added 22 points, eight assists and seven boards in 36 minutes for Lakers, which is 6-1 since January 15 and eight games above .500 for the first time this season. Los Angeles was without Rui Hachimura (calf) and Gabe Vincent (knee).
In his second match this season, after recovering from injuries to both feet, Jarred Vanderbilt had four points, two returns and two steals in 13 minutes from the Los Angeles bench. Vanderbilt also makes major contributions at the defensive end.
“Our crime will not be there every night, but we can control our defense every night,” Davis said.
The only longer winning line for Lakers this season was a six-match run from November 8-19, which started with a victory with 116-106 home over the 76s. James produced 21 points, 12 returns and 13 assists in that competition.
The 76th century has won matches in a row for the first time during the calendar year and deducted a victory 132-129 over the eastern conference leader Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday before serving a victory of 109-97 against Chicago Bulls on Saturday.
Tyrese Maxey logged 31 points and nine assists for Philadelphia in Chicago, while Kelly Oubre Jr. Compiled 22 points and 12 returns.
Before their victories in a row, the 76th century was 2-10 back to January 1st. The ski largely coincided with the absence of Joel Embiid (knee), who has missed the last 11 games and has already been excluded for Tuesday.
Not making things better on the injury front is a stuck left pink for Paul George, who left the Saturday game and will not play on Tuesday. Kyle Lowry (HIP) returned to Bulls after missing the previous ten matches, and he had two points and two assists in 15 minutes.
Injured forward Caleb Martin (hip) and KJ Martin (foot) returned to practice this week, but none of them will play against the Lakers.
“You hear this from me all the time, but I say it again: See who is there, find out the matches, find out the playing field, find out the rotations and leave,” said 76er coach Nick Nurse. “And we will play as hard as we can and as good as we can.”
