Jacksonville Jaguars hired Anthony Campanile as the defensive coordinator.
“Anthony Campanile represents exactly what we want to be like a defensive unit and football team,” head coach Liam Coen said in a statement issued on Thursday. “He provides an aggressive defensive way of thinking and a system that is adaptable to our players and allows them to play quickly and physically.”
Most recently, Campanile served as Linebacker’s coach/runs the gaming coordinator for Green Bay Packers 2024.
Campanile, 42, was formerly Linebacker’s coach (2020-23) by Miami Dolphins.
He began his coaching career as an assistant coach in high school at New Jersey Powerhouse Don Bosco Prep before moving on to positions at the staffs at Rutgers, Boston College and Michigan.
His only season that led a defense came in 2018 at Boston College, where he was a coordinator.
The Jaguars hired Coen earlier this month to replace Doug Pederson as head coach. Previously, he made the offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, he made a difficult outcome from Buccaneers, who was reportedly set to make him the highest paid OC in the NFL before distorting them to move north.
Per reports will not make it easy for Coen to fill in its staff.
ESPN reported Friday morning that Buccaneers will not agree to Jacksonville’s request to interview assistant offensive line trainer Brian Picucci for a potential role for Coen’s staff. Tampa Bay Times added that Buccaneers also rejected Jaguar’s request to talk to the offensive line trainer Kevin Carberry.
